PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) is Sony’s subscription service that gives you access to benefits such as free games and online multiplayer. If you’ve decided you’ve had enough, you need to cancel the service to make sure it doesn’t automatically renew.
You can cancel PS Plus either on your PlayStation console or through a web browser. We’re going to show you how, with instructions that work regardless of your PlayStation Plus tier.
What happens when you cancel PlayStation Plus?
Technically, you don’t cancel PlayStation Plus. Instead, you disable automatic renewal. This means that the payment will not automatically be charged at the end of your current billing cycle.
You can continue to enjoy all of your PlayStation Plus benefits until that date. After that, you will not get the benefit again until you re-subscribe. It also means you’ll lose access to your PS Plus games and online storage until that time.
Unless required by local law, or if you speak with a friendly customer support agent, you will not receive a refund for your PlayStation Plus subscription if you forget to cancel. In some regions, you can request a refund within 14 days of signing up for PlayStation Plus—starting when you first joined the service, including any free trial, through renewal No.

Cut Down Your PlayStation Gaming Costs
Although PS Plus is great, it’s probably an expense you can’t afford. If so, cancel it. You can always re-subscribe later.
Plus, gaming can be an expensive hobby, especially if you prefer to buy games when they’re released. Why not try buying used PS4 or PS5 games to save some money?
Gaming on your PS4 or PS5 can be an expensive hobby, especially if you prefer to buy games when they launch. But there are ways you can cut your costs and still get the most out of your PS4 or PS5.
We’ve rounded up the best tips on how to get PS4 or PS5 games for cheap and save money.
1. Shop PS Store’s Regular Discounts
The PS Store is Sony’s digital marketplace for everything PlayStation related. You can buy games, DLC, themes, subscriptions, and more.
There are many reasons to love the PS Store. For example, digital games are more convenient than physical ones because you get instant access.
When it comes to saving money, the PS Store always has a sale of some kind. Whether it’s celebrating a holiday or a franchise anniversary, you can still score some deep discounts through PS Store if you’re patient.
To be notified when something is on sale, you can add it to your PS Store wishlist.
2. Sign Up for PlayStation Plus
PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) is an ongoing subscription that lets you play your games online with others. The longer you sign up for, the cheaper it is.
Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the PS Plus is that you get a few free games each month. You will have unlimited access to these games for as long as you maintain your membership. Even if you unsubscribe and subscribe again later, the game will come back.
These are not at all below the basket game. PS Plus often delivers great games. Past examples include Mortal Kombat X, Hell Let Loose, and NBA 2K21.
Still not convinced? If you’re a PS Plus member, you can get even more discounts on the PS Store. The PS Plus is an excellent buy, even if you’re not concerned with saving money.
3. Stream Games Using PlayStation Now
PlayStation Now (PS Now) is another subscription service that Sony offers. This gives you on-demand access to hundreds of PS4, PS3 and PS2 games streamed to your console or Windows PC in the cloud.
You pay a subscription fee (again, the longer you subscribe, the less you pay) and get access to a huge collection of games. Titles such as The Last of Us Part 2, Fallout 76 and Tekken 7 are all included.
If you can complete the games quickly, PS Now will save you a lot of money over buying all the included games individually.
4. Buy Discounted Gift Cards
Sony sells gift cards of varying values that you can redeem in the PlayStation Store. There’s no point in purchasing these gift cards at full price. However, during the sale, several other retailers will be selling them at a slight discount. For example, you can save $5 on a $20 gift card, which quickly adds up to big savings.
